20TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF MOUNTAIN FILMS AND ADVENTURE

The “Mountains and City” Festival is the biggest mountain and adventure film festival in central Europe and a sister festival of Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF), with the same program director, Alan Formanek. The Festival's goal is to approach the outdoor communities and city people and to offer them films and multimedia presentations dealing with mountain sports and mountain culture. The Festival also offers a platform for the exchange of ideas between filmmakers, outdoor activists, and the public, while at the same time supporting the most artistic and effective ways of communicating outdoor-related issues.

Film Competition Description and Prizes
Professional and amateur films from around the world are invited to participate. International Jury will award financial and material prizes in the following categories:

BEST FILM OVERALL (Festival Grand Prix)
V4 PRIX (For the best film from V4 countries – Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland)
SLOVAK LITERARY FUND AWARD (for a Slovak filmmaker)
BEST SLOVAK AMATEUR FILM AWARD

Special mentions in the categories:
ROCK, EARTH, WATER, AIR and others

Festival Film Regulations and Requirements
We welcome documentary, fiction, animated and/or experimental features dealing with the mountain sports, mountain culture and environmental issues. There is no duration limit. Films in foreign languages other than Slovak or Czech and/or films without Slovak or Czech subtitles must be accompanied by English subtitles/transcript. Each film must be accompanied by a summary and by at least two promotional photographs. We also encourage filmmakers to provide us with their photographs.

A/ For the film selection, a .mov or .mpg film file of each film with the aforementioned accompanying material shall be submitted to the Festival by January 31, 2019. Film files can be submitted as download links, or mailed to the Festival address on CD, DVD or any external drive. Films received after this deadline might not be considered. The programming committee will then select the films for the Festival screening. Filmmakers of the selected films will be contacted around February 25, 2019, and they will be asked to send the competition format of the film to the Festival as a download link.

B/  For the Festival competition screening, we encourage the films to be submitted in one of the following formats: HD film file saved as .mov or .mpg. Please submit films WITHOUT hardcoded subtitles as they will be subtitled in Slovak.
