Jakob Schubert won the European Junior Cup in 2006–2008 and the Junior World Championships three times in 2007–2009. In 2012, he won the World Champion title in difficulty climbing, and again in 2018, and also in combination. At the European Championships, he won bronze in difficulty climbing and bouldering. He also occasionally competed in speed climbing, especially at the 2013 and 2015 European Championships and before, and at the 2018 World Championships after the introduction of the climbing triple combination (speed, boulder, difficulty) to the 2020 Olympic Games. At these games, which were finally held in 2021, he won a bronze medal thanks to his victory in the difficulty discipline. At the following 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where speed climbing was already a separate discipline, Schubert defended third place in the climbing combination, again mainly thanks to his excellent performance in the difficulty.
