Steph Davis is an American rock climber and base jumper. She started rock climbing when she was 18. She was so fascinated by climbing that, despite her parents’ prohibitions, it became her passion. She dropped out of law school and moved to Utah against her parents’ wishes, where she had more climbing opportunities. She worked as a waitress and lived in her car just to be in contact with the rock and the environment she loved. She is currently one of the few free solo climbers who can handle the highest difficulties. Steph is also an active yoga practitioner and vegan. She is also a photographer, blogger, and author of a very successful climbing book that has been translated into several languages. In 2003, she became the second woman to free climb El Capitan in one day. A year later, she became the first woman to free solo climb Torre Egger, a difficult peak in Patagonia. She has already made many challenging free solo climbs and ascents of various peaks. Her famous free climbs include the east face of Colorado’s Longa Peak and the free climb of Castleton Tower in Moab, Utah, which she then base jumped down. Steph has made many first ascents in the Moab area, including Tombstone. She has participated in many expeditions – in Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Argentina, Italy, Baffin Island and Patagonia, where she climbed solo, but also alpine style. She is the first American to stand on the summit of Fitzroy in Patagonia and the other seven highest peaks in the area.
